Ukraine’s Minister of Energy German Galushchenko and Laura Lochman, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Bureau of Energy Resources of U.S. Department of State, have discussed the participation of the United States in the development of Ukraine’s energy industry.

This was reported by the press service of Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy, according to Ukrinform.

“Our cooperation with our American partners has made significant progress in the energy sector, including in the nuclear industry. We are seeking to deepen cooperation with a focus on attracting U.S. investment in the development of modern technologies and their implementation in Ukraine. We have great prospects for deepening cooperation in the hydrogen industry, in the production of small modular reactors, in the development of wind and solar power, and in the gas sector,” said Galushchenko.

The parties discussed the localization of equipment production facilities for the energy sector in Ukraine, as well as the creation of appropriate security conditions for their operation within clusters. Galushchenko emphasized the importance of generation decentralization to ensure proper energy supply to the regions.

Galushchenko and Lokhman also discussed the issue of gas storage. They emphasized the importance of European partners using the capacities of Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities to ensure energy security not only for Ukraine but also for the entire continent.

As reported, as part of his visit to the United States, Galushchenko had a range of meetings with senators to discuss further support for Ukraine's energy sector and sanctions against Russia in the energy sector.
