Ukraine fulfils its part of agreements to unblock border with Poland – deputy minister
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Deputy Minister Serhiy Derkach during a nationwide telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Ukraine implemented the plan that we had agreed on, and there are no questions to us today. The question is what else the protesters demand from the Polish government,” Derkach told.
He emphasized that both the European Union and the Polish government confirmed that the agreement on the liberalization of transport operations could not be cancelled.
According to Derkach, the number of bilateral transport operations carried out by Polish companies reduced by just 5% compared to the pre-invasion period.
“Hence, their claims that Ukrainian carriers completely ‘killed’ the Polish transportation market are untrue,” Derkach stressed.
Meanwhile, in November 2023, Ukraine received about UAH 10 billion worth of customs duties less due to the border blockade. In this regard, the Polish side is also suffering losses.
A reminder that, in December 2023, the Ukrainian Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Ministry and the newly appointed leadership of the Polish Infrastructure Ministry endorsed a joint action plan to unblock the border.
