In 2022-2023, NPU seizes Russian assets worth over UAH 38B
This was reported by the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police, Ukrinform saw.
"Police investigative units are currently investigating 45 criminal proceedings on the facts of terrorist financing, high treason, collaboration, etc. Fifteen defendants in these cases have already been notified of suspicion, including Russian oligarchs Mikhail Fridman, Arkady and Igor Rotenberg, who are close to the military and political leadership of the Russian Federation. As part of the criminal proceedings, assets totaling more than UAH 38 billion were seized," the NPU said.
During this time, the drilling rigs and equipment of the company worth UAH 4 billion, the beneficial owner of which is the State Property Committee of Belarus, were seized. In addition, according to law enforcement, this company illegally used the equipment of the Republican Unitary Enterprise Belorusneft.
During this time, the police exposed a strategically important Ukrainian enterprise that, through a number of Russian-controlled companies, supplied equipment for the construction and repair of Rosatom nuclear power plants.
"Equipment for the construction of nuclear power plants in Bangladesh and India was seized, and the company's authorized capital and property totaling about UAH 365 million was seized. Two executives of the company were notified of suspicion," the NPU added.
Another example of this work was the seizure of assets of one of the largest producers of organic chemicals, whose activities are controlled by a Russian oil company.
"All seized and arrested assets are used for the benefit and needs of Ukraine, including the needs of the Armed Forces. In particular, a Bell-427 helicopter, a Gulfstream G650 aircraft, 47 trucks, 55 cars and three flatbed trailers have been handed over to our defenders," the police said.
During this time, a number of important assets that were used to finance the war in Ukraine were also nationalized.
"Among the nationalized assets are such important objects as the Ocean Plaza shopping and entertainment center and a branch of Alfa-Bank. These decisions were made after an objective analysis and consideration of evidence pointing to the withdrawal of funds to the Russian Federation and the financing of the war in Ukraine," the press service said.
As reported, in March-May 2022, a thorough analysis of the activities of nearly 16,000 companies associated with the Russian Federation prevented the withdrawal of more than UAH 200 billion to Russia.
