Shmyhal discussed with Weber need to strengthen sanctions against Russia
The head of the Ukrainian government informed about this in Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"We discussed the need to strengthen sanctions against Russia as part of the preparation of the 13th package. I raised the issue of confiscation of frozen Russian assets in the EU. The agenda includes the continuation of comprehensive assistance to Ukraine from the European Parliament and all European institutions," Shmyhal said.
He thanked Weber for supporting initiatives to provide Ukraine with weapons and ammunition, humanitarian aid and timely financing, and in particular for supporting the initiative to create a EUR 50 billion Ukraine Facility program over 2024-2027.
"We expect further powerful decisions from our European friends," Shmyhal said.
As reported, Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak and Belgium's Alexander De Croo agreed to continue joint actions on sanctions against Russia and the confiscation of its frozen assets in favor of Ukraine.
