South Korea could provide $2.1B loan to Ukraine - PM Shmyhal

The Cabinet of Ministers forwarded to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on the ratification of the intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea, which will allow for receiving a loan of up to $2.1 billion.

This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a government meeting on Tuesday, Ukrinform reports.

"Today we approve and forward to Parliament a draft law on the ratification of the intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and South Korea. The Economic Development and Cooperation Fund of the Republic of Korea will be able to provide Ukraine with a loan of up to $2.1 billion," he said.

Shmyhal noted that the government also distributes the funds from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development within the framework of the ARISE project. According to the prime minister, it is about UAH 2.4 billion in support for Ukrainian farmers. Credit guarantees to stimulate lending to small and medium-sized agricultural producers, as well as grants for small farms, will also be available.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal discussed with the EU ambassadors a range of Ukraine’s current issues and priorities.
