EU to deliver EUR 16B within Ukraine Facility before year-end - PM Shmyhal
That’s according to Shmyhal’s post on social media, Ukrinform reports.
"The Verkhovna Rada has ratified the agreement with the EU necessary to receive EUR 50 billion under the Ukraine Facility. This was the last step to make the programme work," Shmyhal noted.
According to the prime minister, the Ukraine Facility is a four-year assistance programme that provides for a number of reforms and transformations bringing Ukraine closer to membership in the European Union.
"This year, under the said initiative, Ukraine will receive EUR 16 billion," Shmyhal emphasized.
He expressed gratitude to the lawmakers and Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk for their support of the relevant draft law to ratify the deal.
The Prime Minister also thanked President Volodymyr Zelensky for his leadership in promoting initiatives important to the country.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on June 6, the Verkhovna Rada ratified the agreement with the EU on mechanisms for the implementation of financing within the Ukraine Facility. The corresponding bill saw support from 320 legislators.
