The IMF Executive Board will decide on the allocation of a new tranche of USD 2.2 billion under the EFF programme to Ukraine at a meeting to be held in the coming weeks.

This was announced on Thursday during a press briefing in Washington by Julia Kozak, Director of the IMF Communications Department, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We expect that our Executive Board will consider a decision on Ukraine in the coming weeks," the IMF representative said in response to a question from the Ukrainian National Agency.

She also said that, according to the preliminary results of the fourth review, the effectiveness of Ukraine's implementation of the EFF programme "remains high" despite the challenges of the war. At the same time, she said, all quantitative performance criteria were met, and the requirements of one structural beacon and another structural beacon with a short delay were fulfilled.

The representative of the Fund stressed that the risks to the growth of the Ukrainian economy remain very high, given the ongoing war.

Kozak drew attention to the process of negotiations between Ukraine and its creditors on debt restructuring. According to her, the completion of this process on terms that are in line with the programme is important for bringing the state debt and meeting Ukraine's financial needs to an acceptable level.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the State Budget of Ukraine has already received four tranches under the EFF programme totalling about USD 5.4 billion.

The IMF programme for Ukraine under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) was approved by the Fund on 31 March 2023. It is designed for four years and provides a total of USD 15.6 billion to Ukraine.
