Exclusion zone will receive funds for restoration from EBRD
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Environment, Ukrinform reports.
"The agreement with the EBRD is a chance to restore the Exclusion Zone after the barbarism of the Russian occupiers: purchase of lost equipment, purchase of the latest firefighting equipment, updating the fire prevention and response system. All that will make the working conditions of more than 2,300 Chornobyl workers better," commented Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strelets.
According to him, thanks to the decision, Ukraine will be able to receive assistance from partners, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Canada - a total of 18 contributing countries.
The fund already has EUR 14 million on its account. Now the official registration of these contributions is expected. The EBRD, as the administrator of the account, will provide more accurate data at the next meeting of the Assembly of Depositors of the account on 2 July this year.
As reported, the financial assistance provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) since the start of the full-scale invasion has totalled almost EUR 4 billion.
