Trukhanov: Odesa should become largest logistics center of Black Sea basin
Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov said this during a speech at the Black Sea Security Forum, Ukrinform reports.
"Odesa made its choice a long time ago. We are fighting for the Ukrainian flag. We claim to be the largest logistics center in the Black Sea basin. Our infrastructure and geopolitical location perfectly meet these criteria," Trukhanov said.
The mayor added that before the war, Odesa had completed the construction of a new airfield capable of handling logistics flights. The city also has a convenient railway interchange.
"Our city has earned the right to be a new post-war center of maritime trade and maritime security. I believe that today it is necessary to start developing new rules that will ensure free and safe trade in the Black Sea. I urge you to help Odesa become the center of such decision-making. Your position is the best response to the narratives of Russian propaganda," Trukhanov addressed the guests.
As Ukrinform reported, the international Black Sea Security Forum is being held in Odesa on June 14-16, the main topic of which is to discuss the security situation in the Black Sea region. Among the key speakers of the event are former French President François Hollande, former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, US Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations (2017-2019) Kurt Volker, British Army officer, Colonel Richard Justin Kemp, US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink.
