NB bans gambling with credit money

Starting from 22 June 2024, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) will introduce a ban on the use of credit funds for gambling.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the NBU press service.

"Starting from 22 June 2024, the National Bank of Ukraine introduces a ban on customer payments to the accounts of gambling organisers for participation in gambling using funds received on credit terms," the statement said.

The National Bank believes that the measure will minimise risks to the security and stability of the financial system, reduce the negative effects of online gambling, and help protect consumer rights and develop responsible consumer lending.

These changes were introduced by Resolution of the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine No. 72 "On Amendments to Resolution of the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine No. 18 dated 24 February 2022" dated 21 June 2024, which will come into force on 22 June 2024.

As reported, the government has restricted online gambling advertising.

While citing and using any materials on the Internet, links to the website ukrinform.net not lower than the first paragraph are mandatory. In addition, citing the translated materials of foreign media outlets is possible only if there is a link to the website ukrinform.net and the website of a foreign media outlet. Materials marked as "Advertisement" or with a disclaimer reading "The material has been posted in accordance with Part 3 of Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine "On Advertising" No. 270/96-VR of July 3, 1996 and the Law of Ukraine "On the Media" No. 2849-Х of March 31, 2023 and on the basis of an agreement/invoice.
