Ukraine renews agreement with ESA on cooperation in use of outer space for peaceful purposes
The government's permanent representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"A draft agreement has been approved (in the form of an exchange of letters) between the Government of Ukraine and the European Space Agency on the renewal of the agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the European Space Agency on cooperation in the use of outer space for peaceful purposes, signed in Paris on January 25, 2008," he wrote.
According to Melnychuk, the draft agreement provides for the renewal of the said agreement for an additional five-year period - until February 24, 2029.
The purpose of the agreement is to create a legal framework for cooperation between the parties in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes and conditions for the implementation of projects of common interest. Among potential areas for cooperation, the parties are considering, in particular, space sciences, Earth research programs and their application, development of telecommunications, launch vehicles, etc.
