Shmyhal discusses updated FTA agreement with Canadian minister
According to Ukrinform, Shmyhal said this in a post on Facebook.
“The agreement includes new and updated chapters, particularly on investment, cross-border trade in services, financial services, and digital trade. This agreement can also be useful for Canadian companies in the reconstruction of Ukrainian infrastructure,” Shmyhal posted.
He emphasized that Ukraine is interested in attracting more Canadian businesses to key sectors that will be prioritized for investment: oil and gas production, renewable energy, small modular reactors, green metallurgy, logistics and transportation, IT and digitalization, agricultural production, etc.
"I noted the successful cooperation between CAMECO and Energoatom. In fact, Canada has become our main supplier of nuclear fuel. We hope that other Canadian companies will follow this example," Shmyhal said.
He thanked the people of Canada for their strong solidarity and the Canadian government for its leadership in many areas of support for Ukraine.
As reported by Ukrinform, the updated Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Canada (CUFTA) comes into force on July 1. On this occasion, a joint statement was made by First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko and Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion of Canada Mary Ng.
