Ukraine can sell its own drones to partners: Ambassador Beshta outlines benefits
The relevant statement was made by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania Petro Beshta in an interview with Ukrinform.
“We are communicating with the Lithuanian government. We are proving to them, to Lithuania’s Defence Ministry, that, while considering the possibilities and formats of further military assistance to Ukraine, they should give not only something from the warehouses as before (especially since this option is already running out: they gave what they could). But also, if possible, they should allocate funds from the budget and buy something from our manufacturers. It will be many times more effective,” Beshta told.
In his words, first and foremost, it will be effective logistically, as the drones purchased will be delivered to the front in the shortest time possible.
“Secondly, in this case, they will purchase the drones that meet the frontline needs as much as possible, because our drone manufacturers test and improve them, bringing into compliance with the requirements of the military,” the Ukrainian diplomat explained.
Moreover, Ukrainian-produced drones are significantly cheaper than the Western-made ones. Hence, one can buy a much larger number of drones for the same amount of money.
A reminder that Lithuania’s State Defence Council decided to allocate at least 0.25% of its GDP for Ukraine’s defense and security support.
