More than 8M tonnes of grain already threshed across Ukraine

As of July 12, 2024, more than 8.3 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops were threshed from over 2.4 million hectares across Ukraine.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Farmers across all regions are gathering early grain crops. A total of 5.7 million tonnes of wheat was threshed from 1,508.9 thousand hectares, 2.4 million tonnes of barley – from 642.3 thousand hectares, and 260.9 thousand tonnes of peas – from 127.3 thousand hectares,” the report states.

The harvesting of rapeseed and soybeans also started across all regions. A total of 1,085.2 thousand tonnes of rapeseed was gathered from 499.5 thousand hectares, and 0.3 thousand tonnes of soybeans – from 0.2 thousand hectares.

In the Kherson region, famers began to harvest millet, having already threshed 50 tonnes from 50 hectares.

Overall, grain and oilseed crops have been gathered from 2,781.25 thousand hectares across Ukraine. A total of 9.5 million tonnes of the new-harvest crops were threshed.

So far, the leading regions have been Mykolaiv (with 484.1 thousand hectares threshed), Odesa (464.5 thousand hectares) and Dnipropetrovsk (319.4 thousand hectares).

In terms of the yielding capacity, farmers from the Ivano-Frankivsk region are topping the ranking with 66.6 quintals per hectare.

A reminder that Ukrainian-produced grain going in transit through Moldova will be exempt from inspections by the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA).
