Hydro power plants operating as scheduled despite heat wave – Ukrhydroenergo
The relevant statement was made by Ukrhydroenergo PrJSC CEO Ihor Syrota, an Ukrinform correspondent reports, referring to the company’s press service.
“Despite the increased water temperature in the Dnieper, Ukrhydroenergo’s plants are operating as scheduled and continue providing Ukraine’s energy system with the balancing capacities. This is not the most difficult test, and we will cope with this challenge too,” Syrota noted.
According to Ukrhydroenergo, hydro power plants and pumped-storage hydro power plants operate in such as a way as to ensure maximum safety for workers, as well as the safe operation of equipment.
Among other things, in order to reduce the impact of hot temperatures on workers, any activities in open platforms were adjusted and postponed for later, when the weather is less hot.
A reminder that, on July 15, 2024, due to the abnormal heat wave, electricity consumption volumes across Ukraine reached their peak and significantly exceeded the available generation capacity.
