Ukraine invests more than UAH 888B in security, defense sector in H1 2024

In January-June 2024, a total of UAH 888.4 billion was directed from Ukraine’s state budget general fund to finance the security and defense sector.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Finance Ministry on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“In January-June 2024, the expenditures from the state budget general find on the security and defense sector came to UAH 888.4 billion, or 57.5% of the total expenditures,” the report states.

A total of UAH 155.6 billion was allocated for the security and defense sector in June 2024.

The funds were directed as the military pay for servicemen, rank and file personnel and senior officers, police officers, as well as to purchase military and special equipment, weapons, ammunition, defense products, individual protective gear (helmets, bulletproof vests, and other special equipment), fuels and oils, food products, medical supplies, etc.

A reminder that, on July 18, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine endorsed amendments to the state budget, proposing to increase the expenditure budget by UAH 500.3 billion, of which UAH 495.3 billion would be directed to finance the security and defense sector.
