EU purchases IT equipment worth about EUR 2M for Ukraine

The European Union has financed the purchase and delivery of modern IT equipment and software for the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry and the State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, totaling about EUR 2 million.

The relevant statement was made by the EU4SaferFood project on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“This equipment includes high-power hardware to host the Ministry’s State Agrarian Register and for the SSUFSCP’s [State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection – Ed.] new training centre for state officials. We have also updated the pool of office equipment such as computers, laptops, software, networking equipment, and multifunctional devices, and also ensured the secure data back-up and data recovery in the event of emergencies,” Agricultural Attaché, Sector Manager for Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry and Food Safety at the EU Delegation to Ukraine Christian Ben Hell noted.

With this new hardware and software, the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry will be able to significantly extend and modernize its data centre, and ensure the sustainable functioning of the State Agrarian Register.

Meanwhile, the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection will launch and maintain the new training centre for specialists in the field of veterinary medicine, food safety, sanitary and phytosanitary measures.

A reminder that the EU4SaferFood project (Improvement of legislation, control and awareness in food safety, animal health and welfare in Ukraine) is financed by the European Union. It has been launched since March 2024 and will last until November 2025. The project budget is EUR 1,999,885.
