The United States has provided Ukraine with $82 billion in aid since the beginning of Russia's full-scale aggression, and it is an investment in transatlantic security and democratic values.

U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce Marisa Lago said this at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"In practical terms, the United States continues to mobilize a broad [range] of the allies and partners to provide military, economic, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. For our part, the United States has provided $82 billion in assistance to Ukraine since this brutal, unjustified war began. Supporting Ukraine is more than simply the right thing to do; it is an investment in transatlantic [security] and the democratic values that we all hold dearly," Lago said.

She said that for the United States, this unwavering commitment to Ukraine means connecting U.S. companies to Ukraine's pressing needs now, such as in defense and energy, and added that the U.S. and its partners are not waiting for the end of the war to start a plan for Ukraine's economic reconstruction.

Lago stressed that during her visit to Kyiv, she met with First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyyidenko, Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin and Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandr Bornyakov.

Lago arrived in Kyiv on Friday to hold meetings with the business community, entrepreneurs and Ukrainian government officials to discuss how the U.S. private sector can join in supporting Ukraine's economic reconstruction.
