Nordic-Baltic Eight countries sign ‘winter aid package’ worth EUR 44M for Ukraine

The foreign ministers of the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) countries have signed a EUR 44 million aid package for Ukraine. The funds will be used to purchase generators and solar panels.

Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard stated this at a joint briefing with the foreign ministers of the Nordic-Baltic Eight countries in Odesa, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We have signed a package for another 44 million (euros - ed.) to help you close the gap in your energy infrastructure. We are your North Baltic partners and we will support you. We will also be building up your air defense capabilities and strengthening your economy,” said Maria Malmer Stenergard.

She added that Sweden has invested 28 million euros in this package. Since the beginning of the war, the country has provided EUR 5 billion in support to Ukraine.

As reported by Ukrinform, the foreign ministers of Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Lithuania, Latvia and Denmark (Nordic-Baltic Eight, NB8) arrived in Odesa. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister discussed with them the strengthening of Ukraine's defense capabilities and energy resilience ahead of the winter and President Volodymyr Zelensky's Victory Plan.
