Ukraine’s pavilion opens at Expo 2025 in Japan
The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Economy Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
The opening ceremony took place on April 13, 2025, as the exhibition itself kicked off. The event was attended by Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Japan Yoshihiko Okabe, Japanese Economy Minister Morita Kentaro, and other special guests. About 5,000 persons visited the pavilion on its opening day.

“Ukraine’s pavilion created such a buzz that the organizers had to bring in traffic controllers. Up to 1,500 visitors pass through our pavilion every hour, and in six months, the organizers estimate that the number of people who will see it will reach 23 million. Therefore, this is a strategic opportunity to show the world our values and sustainability,” Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister, Economy Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko noted.

Instead of a traditional display, the pavilion showcases 18 items that represent a human value each, such as freedom, dignity, resilience, etc. Each object has a real barcode that visitors can scan using special store scanners. Instead of displaying conventional price tags, the screens reveal video stories from Ukraine, reflecting the true cost of such notions as education, freedom of choice, medical care, and more.
Next to the main pavilion, the Values-Driven Economy zone was placed. It displays artifacts from Ukrainian companies that continue operating despite the war.
The exhibition items include, in particular, a helmet from DTEK, whose employees restore electricity for millions of people amid constant Russian attacks; a bullet-riddled siren of Ajax that continues to work and protect despite the damage; a flask of oil from Ukrnafta PJSC; as well as exhibits from the agricultural holding Astarta, the manufacturer and distributor of household and personal hygiene products Biosphere Corporation, and the leader in inclusive reforms in Ukraine’s financial sector Oschadbank.

On April 15, 2025, Ukraine will hold a series of panel discussions in the United Kingdom’s pavilion, dedicated to the role of values in the economy and the importance of cultural and economic sustainability.
A reminder that Ukraine’s participation in the World Expo 2025 was made possible with the support of the Government of Japan, which provided Ukraine with a free space for the duration of the exhibition, as well as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ukrzaliznytsia JSC and Caparol.
The World Expo 2025 will last from April 13, 2025 until October 13, 2025.
