"During the elections of the President of Ukraine and the vote counting, the ships of the Standing NATO Maritime Group Two (SNMG2) and some others will stay in the Black Sea. Now we have information about the Royal Canadian Navy frigate HMCS Toronto (FFH 333) and the Spanish Navy frigate Santa Maria (F-81)," Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Maidan of Foreign Affairs Andrii Klymenko wrote on Facebook with reference to the information of the monitoring group of the Institute for Black Sea Strategic Studies, the Maidan of Foreign Affairs and the BlackSeaNews.net editorial staff.
Klymenko supposes that the ships of the United States Sixth Fleet will also stay in the waters of the Black Sea.
He recalled that French Navy signal intelligence ship Dupuy de Lôme (A 759) and US Navy missile cruiser Vella Gulf (CG72) had been in the Black Sea during the 2014 presidential elections in Ukraine.
“March 28, 2019, at 08:30 (Kyiv time), the Spanish frigate passed the Dardanelles Strait. The flagship SNMG2 moves along. It is the Royal Netherlands Navy frigate HNLMS Evertsen (F-805), which was unreported,” the expert informs.
As Klymenko noted, the French Navy minehunter Capricorne (M-653) has been staying in the Black Sea since March 21, 2019 and will remain there until April 2, 2019.
