Andriy Shevchenko wants to get coach education
KYIV, April 4 /UKRINFORM/. The former captain of Ukraine's national team, Andriy Shevchenko, who retired after UEFA EURO 2012, decided to get a coaching education, the press office of the Football Federation of Ukraine (FFU) reported.
Shevchenko, with the next group, has started the first session of training coaches under the A-diploma programme for professional players.
"Among others, Andriy Shevchenko of Dynamo sat down at the desk, who last season take the football field," the report says.
According to Shevchenko, he wants to get his coaching education exactly in Ukraine.
"First of all, I am a Ukrainian, a trainee of the Ukrainian football. I grew up here as a football player, here I also want to get coaching education," the 2004 Ballon d'Or winner shared his impressions of the first days of training.
Among the coaches with whom he played, Shevchenko highlighted Lobanovskiy.
"I have worked with many famous mentors, and I can say confidently that Valeriy Lobanovskiy had the greatest influence on me. For me it was a great honor to play and work under the leadership of this great coach," said Ukraine's top scorer (48 goals).
Yet he does not think of where he will work in the future. "The most important thing is to get all the necessary knowledge, it is what I have come here for," Shevchenko said.
