Greta Thunberg demands Russia be punished for ecocide in Ukraine
She reported this on her Twitter account, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"This ecocide as a continuation of Russia's unprovoked full-scale invasion of Ukraine is yet another atrocity which leaves the world lost for words. Our eyes are once again on Russia who must be held accountable for their crimes," Thunberg wrote.
On June 6, Russian troops blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant. Power facilities in the Kherson region, including the Kherson thermal power plant, are at risk of flooding. The evacuation of the population from flooded areas continues.
On June 8, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on representatives of the global environmental community to unite their efforts in bringing Russia to account for an ecocide and not to leave Ukraine alone with the tragedy.
