Kakhovka HPP blast: 16 people died, 31 more considered missing
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
"Results of the 12th day of elimination of aftermath of the Kakhovka HPP blowing up by Russians... 16 people have died: 14 - in Kherson region and 2 - in Mykolaiv region. 31 people are considered missing," the report says.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 1,300 houses remain flooded, including 1,274 in Kherson region and 26 in Mykolaiv region.
A total of 3,614 people were evacuated from the flooded areas, including 474 children and 80 people with reduced mobility.
The police received more than 4,800 reports from citizens regarding property damage. As many as 13,500 apartments and houses were inspected.
Disaster relief operations are ongoing.
As Ukrinform reported, on the night of June 6, the Russian army blew up the Kakhovka HPP dam, causing a large-scale flood. A number of settlements in Kherson region were flooded. The territories of Mykolaiv region were also affected.
As of June 12, 42 people, including seven children, were considered missing and 10 people died as a result of the Kakhovka dam destruction.
