Russian propaganda invents fake story of Ukrainian “reality show” from front lines

Ukrinform
The perpetrators designed a fake name for the show, "In the Trenches," as well as purported correspondence with Netflix.

In the Russian segment of Telegram, Vkontakte, and YouTube, information about the filming in Ukraine of a new reality show, "In the Trenches," is being spun.

Propagandists are posting what they claim to be screenshots of FILM.UA Group (cinema/television studio filmua on Instagram - ed.) team inviting bloggers to shoot a show about the horrors of war. It is also claimed that the reality show will be about real life in the war and the bloody regime of the Russian Federation. As it follows from the screenshot provided by propagandists, the filming will take place in the combat zone, but the lives of the participants will not be threatened. It is emphasized that Ukrainian TV channels are already interested in the project, and that negotiations are underway with Netflix.

This report is false. There is no mention of such a reality show on the website and official social media pages of the Media Group. No casting announcement for this kind of show was found on the Ukrainian version of ACMODASI – the largest online casting resource.

In the end, the media group FILM.UA Group itself refuted the reports about the filming of the reality show “In the Trenches.”

"We did not send such information to anyone and it is not true. This is a fake," FILM.UA Group said in a comment to Ukrinform.

The Russians have earlier circulated other fake stories regarding the Ukrainian movie market. As Stopfake reported, propagandists were spreading the narrative that Ukraine was allegedly faking civilian casualties during the Russo-Ukrainian war, but in fact, the video shared online depicted the filming of the Ukrainian documentary "The Region of Heroes."
