Russian propaganda spreading fake about students building fortifications in Kyiv region

Pro-Russian Telegram channels and communities on the social networking site Vkontakte began to actively circulate reports about the involvement of Ukrainian students in the construction of fortifications in the city of Irpin, Kyiv region.

As "evidence," the authors of the posts added a photo of an announcement that was allegedly posted in a Kyiv-based university - Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture (KNUCA). It says that the management of the university allegedly obliges the students of the "KN-19" and "KN-18" groups to take with them everything they need, including shovels, and to arrive at the main building of the educational institution at 08:30 for community work at a defense fortification near Kyiv.

This is a fake. In fact, the "ad" was fabricated in a graphics editor. Its text was written with grammatical errors and with no date indicated. To create the fake, the propagandists used the KNUCA logo and an old photo of the institution's main building, which appeared in the university's group on the Vkontakte social network back in 2012.

Representatives of the university told Ukrinform that such an "announcement" is fake and that groups with the names "KN-19" and "KN-18" never existed at the university.

It is interesting that in Russia itself in 2022, students of the Novocheboksarsk Technical College were forced to dig trenches during a class on the basics of life safety.

Earlier, Ukrinform refuted the fakes spread by Russian propaganda after the Euro 2024 match between Ukraine and Romania.
