Russian Duma claims some foreign observers may not recognize parliamentary elections in Ukraine
KYIV, October 5 /UKRINFORM/. The State Duma of the Russian Federation does not rule out that some international observers may not recognize elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
This was stated by First Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots Dmitry Sablin, quoted by the press service of the ruling party United Russia.
"Some or other foreign observers will tend not to recognize the results of these elections. But we are preparing for this. Our task is to objectively assess the elections and prevent possible provocations," the MP said.
Commenting on the possibility of provocations in principle, Sablin said he did not like the position when, "If the winners are our supporters, we recognize the elections, and if not, we do not recognize." "This is an element of double standards. We would like to remove these double standards," he said.
Sablin noted that the October 28 elections will be observed by the State Duma deputies in different regions. "It will be a delegation consisting of only the State Duma deputies; the deputies will also be part of various international delegations, particularly from the Union State, PACE, CIS. Plus observers of the United Russia will be sent - just as the citizens of the Russian Federation," he added.
