Ukraine in bad relationship with Russia not needed to Europe - MFA
KYIV, November 13 /UKRINFORM/. Successful European integration is impossible without constructive and partnership relations with the Russian Federation.
Oleh Voloshyn, director of the foreign ministry's information policy department, expressed this belief at a briefing on Tuesday.
"Ukraine, which is in a bad relationship with Russia, is not needed to Europe, because without the partnership with Russia it is impossible to solve issues that are directly related to our objectives in the European direction," the foreign ministry spokesman said.
At the same time, Oleh Voloshyn said that the beginning of the border demarcation between Ukraine and the Russian Federation is a step towards liberalization of the visa regime with the European Union.
"Demarcation of the border with Russia is a direct step towards liberalization of the visa regime with the European Union," he said.
According to Voloshyn, the border demarcation, which began on November 7 with setting the first border sign on the Ukrainian-Russian border, is an event showing that "thanks to the new atmosphere of Ukrainian-Russian relations" in recent years, the parties can solve the problems that have not been solved for decades.
As reported, on November 7 this year, the first sign on the Ukrainian-Russian border was installed, which was the start of the practical demarcation effort. This became possible after almost 20 years of negotiations with the Russian side.
