Lithuanian president: Putin behaves in Ukraine like Hitler or Stalin

KYIV, June 23 /Ukrinform/. Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite has compared the actions of Russian leader Vladimir Putin with tactics used by Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler.

She said this in an interview with German newspaper Focus.

"When asked whether she believes such comparisons are too harsh, Grybauskaite explained: the Russian president is using the national issue as a pretext for the seizure of foreign territories - as the aforementioned dictators did," reads the report.

Grybauskaite also expressed fears that Moscow would try to convince the Baltic States to withdraw from NATO in exchange for a reduction in prices for oil or gas.

She said that Russia wants to expand its influence on the countries that were formerly part of the Soviet Union.
