MEP Harms to visit Ukraine

A co-chair of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, a member of the Greens/European Free Alliance in the European Parliament, German MEP Rebecca Harms will make on a working visit to Ukraine from September 15 to September 20, the office of the German deputy has told an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Rebecca Harms will be in Ukraine with an official delegation of the European Parliament to participate in the 8th Parliamentary Association summit, which will be held in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Kyiv," the deputy's office said.

The program of work of the delegation will focus on the promotion and results of reforms in the area of decentralization, the fight against corruption and the economic situation in the region. MEPs and Ukrainian deputies will meet with local and regional authorities in Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk, as well as local entrepreneurs, minority representatives, and civil society activists.

Harms also intends to meet with environmentalists in the Carpathian region to discuss the Lviv environmental project.

In Kyiv, Harms plans to meet with President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin.

On Thursday, September 20, Harms will take part in the 2nd public conference on the reform of the anti-corruption struggle in Ukraine, which will take place in the Verkhovna Rada.
