Russia must release Ukrainian sailors and guarantee free passage through the Kerch Strait, UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt has reported on Twitter.

"The UK utterly condemns Russia's use of force against Ukrainian vessels entering the Sea of Azov. Once again, we see Russian contempt for international norms and Ukrainian sovereignty. Russia must release detained Ukrainian sailors and guarantee free passage through the Kerch Strait," he wrote.

On November 25, Russian ships opened fire on three Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait and then seized them. According to the latest data, six Ukrainian servicemen were wounded.

In this regard, Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) proposed that President Poroshenko declare martial law for 60 days.

On November 26, Poroshenko signed a decree enacting the NSDC decision on the introduction of martial law in Ukraine from November 26 to January 25 and submitted a bill to the Verkhovna Rada with the proposal to adopt his decree.
