Ukrainian ambassador asks Budapest to support Kyiv’s EU and NATO aspirations
"Today I have met with Defence Minister of Hungary Tibor Benkő... I asked for support from Budapest in implementing Kyiv’s policy of the European and Euro-Atlantic integration, which had been recently enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine. We also discussed the possibility of expanding military cooperation between our states," Ambassador Nepop wrote on Facebook.
The Ukrainian ambassador thanked minister Benkő for the support provided to Ukraine in countering the Russian aggression and informed in detail about the situation in eastern Ukraine, the occupied Crimea, in the area of the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait.
"Special focus was laid on the importance of international support for the release of Ukrainian prisoners of the Kremlin and captured Ukrainian sailors, who are the prisoners of war," the diplomat emphasized.
As noted, the Hungarian defence minister assured that his country would continue to support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine since Budapest treated it as a neighboring and a friendly country.
“Tibor Benkő has underscored that a strong, democratic Ukraine oriented to the Western values is our common interest,” the Ukrainian diplomat stressed.
