Canada extends sanctions against Yanukovych and his associates
The decision was published in the Canada Gazette, the official newspaper of the Government of Canada.
The new sanctions will be valid for a period of five years, until March 2024. The sanctions apply to the following persons: Mykola Azarov, Oleksiy Azarov, Raisa Bohatyriova, Andriy Kliuyev, Serhiy Kliuyev, Serhiy Kurchenko, Olena Lukash, Andriy Portnov, Artem Pshonka, Viktor Pshonka, Viktor Ratushniak, Dmytro Tabachnyk, Oleksandr Yakymenko, Viktor Yanukovych, Oleksandr Yanukovych and Vitaliy Zakharchenko.
By the same decision, Canada lifted sanctions against the deceased younger son of the former Ukrainian president, Viktor Yanukovych, and the former adviser to the former president, Ihor Kalinin.
The first Canadian sanctions against Yanukovych’s entourage were imposed on March 5, 2014 and have remained in force since then.
