The Ukraine Reform Conference in Toronto will allow the international community to demonstrate its support for reform in Ukraine, Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland has stated.

“I am delighted Canada is hosting the Ukraine Reform Conference in Toronto this year. This is an invaluable opportunity for Canada and the international community to demonstrate our support for reform in Ukraine. Together, we will continue to work toward strengthening the rules-based international order and building the future the people of Ukraine deserve,” Freeland said.

In a news release, Global Affairs Canada noted that “Canada and its international partners stand with the people of Ukraine”.

From July 2 to 4, 2019, Canada and Ukraine will co-host the Ukraine Reform Conference in Toronto.

This third international conference will bring together over 800 of Ukraine’s friends and partners, including foreign ministers, heads of international institutions, parliamentarians, and members of the private sector, civil society and community members to support Ukraine’s reform process. There will be 39 countries and seven international organizations represented in Toronto.

The ministerial events will be held July 2. During the two next days, Ukraine House will host discussions on innovation, trade opportunities, democracy and reform in Ukraine. Ukraine House is a hub for private sector, civil society, government and international partners to connect, network and debate.

As reported, the first Ukraine Reform Conferences were held in London and Copenhagen in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

Since January 2014, Canada has committed more than $785 million in multi-faceted support to Ukraine, encompassing a broad range of financial, development, stabilization and security, non-lethal military and humanitarian assistance.
