Oleksiy Honcharuk becomes Prime Minister of Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada has appointed Deputy Head of the President's Office for Economic Affairs Oleksiy Honcharuk as Prime Minister of Ukraine.

A total of 290 MPs voted in favor of the relevant decision at the first meeting of the first session of the Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

Oleksiy Honcharuk was born in 1984. He is a lawyer, attorney, Master of Public Administration, Doctor of Philosophy in law. He graduated from the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management with a degree in Law, the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine with a degree in Public Administration, he is a graduate of the Aspen Institute Kyiv and Kyiv-Mohyla Business School.

He was a managing partner of Constructive Lawyer law firm. Since September 2015, he headed the Better Regulation Delivery Office (BRDO). He worked as a freelance adviser to First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv. In the snap parliamentary elections in 2014, he ran for parliament as a candidate from the Power of People party.

On May 28, 2019, he was appointed as Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, and on June 25, 2019 - Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
