Ukraine expresses protest to Hungarian diplomat over 'civil war' statements

Ukrinform
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has expressed a protest to a Hungarian diplomat over statements about a "civil war" in Ukraine.

According to the ministry, Hungarian government representative Tristan Azbej used unacceptable rhetoric in his speech, in particular, about the "crisis of a civil war" in Ukraine.

In connection with this statement, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summoned Hungary's charge d'affaires in Ukraine. A strong protest was expressed to the Hungarian diplomat.

"Categorically unacceptable for Ukraine is a situation when senior officials of a neighboring state call Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, which has been ongoing since 2014, a 'civil war'," the ministry said.

The ministry noted that Hungary, as a member of the EU and NATO, should take an official position on Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
