Ukrainian speaker, Czech prime minister discuss Nord Stream 2 risks

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov and Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrej Babiš have discussed possibilities for deepening Ukraine’s cooperation with the Visegrad Four countries and the threat of the Nord Stream 2 project.

The relevant report has been posted on the Ukrainian parliament’s website after a meeting of the Ukrainian speaker with the Czech prime minister in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Dmytro Razumkov thanked the head of the Czech government for the steadfast support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and condemnation of the annexation of Crimea.

The parties also discussed ways to enhance cooperation within the Visegrad Four, Baltic Plus groups and involving other countries in these groups.

“This is a good opportunity to give impetus to our cooperation in the international dimension, in particular on the sidelines of PACE. We need to direct our joint actions to returning the basic principles that was laid during the creation of the Council of Europe,” the speaker said.

In addition, Razumkov pointed out the geopolitical security risks associated with the Nord Stream 2 project.

In turn, the Czech prime minister once again noted the unwavering support for Ukraine: “We condemn the annexation of Crimea, support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The Czech Republic is absolutely on your side”.

Also, Babiš on behalf of the Czech parliament speaker invited Razumkov to pay an official visit to the Czech Republic.
