Zelensky praises restoration of bridge in Ivano-Frankivsk region
"This is an example of how it is possible to build a bridge through joint efforts of the community, state and local authorities, quickly and without thefts," Chairman of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration Denys Shmyhal said, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"Without thefts is crucial. That’s why not for big money," President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky added.
The bridge across the Chechva River was erected in 1960. It was damaged during the 2008 flood. In 2018, after the summer flood, the supports of the bridge broke down and the bridge partially collapsed. In July, President Zelensky promised to restore the bridge by the end of the year. In August, the Government allocated about UAH 25 million from reserve fund for the repair of the bridge between the villages of Dovhe-Kaluske and Piylo.
There are about 1,200 bridges in Ivano-Frankivsk region, most of them in poor condition. More than UAH 600 million is needed to restore them.
Today, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky makes a working visit to Ivano-Frankivsk region to hear the report of Chairman of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration Denys Shmyhal on hundred days of his work.
