Ukraine calls on world to jointly counter xenophobia, anti-Semitism

"On January 27 every year, the international community honors the memory of millions of Jews, Roma and representatives of other minorities who were tortured by Nazis because of their nationality during World War II. The Holocaust is an attempt to destroy the whole nation, it is the genocide of the Jewish people during the war. [...] Having established the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we support the remembrance of those horrific events so that they never happen again, and also prevent manifestations of xenophobia, anti-Semitism and other intolerance, which, unfortunately, are still recorded in the world," the ministry said.

According to the report, today the danger of these manifestations for Ukraine, which become elements of state ideology under totalitarian regimes, comes from a neighboring state.

"Ukraine is responding to the Russian aggressor by protecting Europe from the flames of hatred. We call for the unification of efforts to preserve human values and prevent human hatred, discrimination and disrespect for human beings," the comment said.
