Czech Republic will never recognize Russia's annexation of Crimea – Foreign Minister Petříček
“We do not forget Crimea. The issue is still on the agenda. The Czech Republic has never recognized and will never recognize the annexation of Crimea. This is an integral part of our strong position in the EU,” Petříček said after talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Vadym Prystaiko in Prague on Tuesday, February 4, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
The minister also stressed that the Czech Republic is sure that sanctions against Russia can be lifted only after it changes its behavior.
Prystaiko, in turn, drew attention to the fact that Ukraine actively interacts with the Czech Republic as part of its membership in the UN Human Rights Council (both countries are HRC members from 2019 to 2021). In addition, the policy of non-recognition of Russia's annexation of Crimea and pressure on the Russian Federation was agreed between Ukraine and the EU.
