Parliament appoints Petrashko as economy minister

The Verkhovna Rada has appointed Ihor Petrashko to the post of Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine.

A total of 243 MPs voted in favor of the relevant decision at an extraordinary parliamentary meeting on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Ihor Petrashko served as Deputy CEO of Ukrlandfarming PLC. He graduated from Lviv Polytechnic National University, has a bachelor's degree in business administration. In 2001, he received an MBA degree from Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management (USA).

Petrashko succeeds Tymofiy Mylovanov, who was dismissed on March 4 when the Parliament fired the Cabinet of ex-Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk.
