Saakashvili says he will get post at National Reform Council
Saakashvili said this in a comment to Deutsche Welle.
"Chairman of the executive committee, not secretary," he said on Wednesday, May 6, when asked to confirm that he will be appointed secretary of the National Reform Council. However, Saakashvili could not name the exact date of his appointment. According to media reports, it could happen on Wednesday, May 6.
Earlier, the leader of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia, told reporters that reports about Saakashvili's position should appear on May 6 from the President's Office, but he will probably not be the secretary of the National Reform Council.
On April 22, Servant of the People MP Oleksandr Kachura said that Saakashvili was being considered as a candidate for deputy prime minister for reform.
Saakashvili said that President Volodymyr Zelensky had invited him to become deputy prime minister for reform and that he had already talked to the prime minister about it.
On April 30, deputy head of the Servant of the People faction Yevhenia Kravchuk said the Verkhovna Rada would not consider Saakashvili's possible appointment during an extraordinary meeting on April 30 due to a lack of votes in his support.
At the same time, Arakhamia said that the faction had the required number of votes in support of Saakashvili's appointment as deputy prime minister for reform, but Zelensky was considering another format for cooperation with him.
