The World Bank has highly praised the work of the Health Ministry of Ukraine during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Deputy Health Minister Svitlana Shatalova said this at a briefing on August 20, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"On August 17, during a meeting between Health Minister Maksym Stepanov and World Bank Country Director for Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine Arup Banerji, the World Bank highly appreciated the work of the Health Ministry of Ukraine in the very difficult conditions of the pandemic and in the conditions of extremely tight deadlines," Shatalova said.

She noted that the Health Ministry is interested in further cooperation with the World Bank to prevent the consequences of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, which includes a constant increase in the number of tests for COVID-19.

According to her, the Health Ministry also counts on the support of the World Bank in the development of emergency medical care systems at the national level.

As reported, the Health Ministry and the World Bank will purchase more than 1 million new test kits for COVID-19.

As of August 20, Ukraine reported 98,537 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 2,134 new cases recorded over the past 24 hours.
