"Dmytro Kuleba congratulated Helga Schmid on her appointment and wished her fruitful work and success on her responsible post. He invited the interlocutor to pay her first visit to Ukraine with the possibility of visiting Donbas and the administrative border with the Autonomous Republic of Crimea," reads the report.

Kuleba noted that this visit would prove that Ukraine is important for the OSCE.

According to the ministry’s press service, Helga Schmid accepted the invitation to visit Ukraine as soon as the circumstances related to the quarantine restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic allow it. She assured that the issue of Russian-Ukrainian conflict would be among the top priorities of the OSCE agenda in 2021.

As reported, OSCE Ministerial Council approved the appointment of a new Secretary General and heads of the Organization's three institutions on December 4. German diplomat Helga Schmid became the first woman to serve as OSCE Secretary General.
