PM Shmyhal, G7 and EU Ambassadors discuss purchase COVID-19 vaccine

As the Government portal reports, Shmyhal stressed that the most important task of the Government is to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on the economy.

"The Government has approved 100 priority investment projects in various fields. Projects can be implemented with the involvement of investors, in particular on the terms of public-private partnership, international technical assistance or through loans and the budget. We invite you to take part in privatization auctions and concession tenders in Ukraine," the Prime Minister said.

The Head of Government and the Ambassadors of the G7 States and the European Union also discussed the key parameters of the State Budget for 2021. As Denys Shmyhal emphasized, the execution of the budget in the first quarter of next year will give an opportunity to talk about the revision of certain parameters in terms of increasing funding for important programs for Ukraine.

"The budget also provides for the establishment of a special fund with a resource to be allocated for the purchase of coronavirus vaccine," stressed Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister noted that Ukraine, together with the World Bank and the European Investment Bank, was working on the possibility of purchasing COVID-19 vaccines. According to him, the relevant work is being done at the level of embassies of the United States, Great Britain, Germany and vaccine manufacturing companies.

"Ukraine needs access to the vaccine as early as next year so that we can start the process of vaccinating doctors and other groups at risk as soon as possible. We appreciate the efforts of our international partners to help Ukraine provide the population with the appropriate amount of vaccine," the Prime Minister said.

Denys Shmyhal wished Great Britain, which will chair the G7 next year, success in achieving the declared priorities.

The Prime Minister thanked the G7 States and the European Union for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
