The United States has warned of "consequences" if Russia "acts recklessly or aggressively" towards Ukraine, Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said.

He said this in an interview with NBC on April 11, Ukrinform reports.

According to him, Moscow will face consequences in the event of aggressive actions against Ukraine.

"President Biden was very clear on this issue: if Russia acts recklessly or aggressively, there will be consequences," Blinken said.

He added that Russia now has more troops on the border with Ukraine than at any time since 2014, and stressed that he was seriously concerned about Russia's actions.

As reported, during a call on April 9, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine against unilateral Russian provocations along the line of contact in eastern Ukraine, in occupied Crimea, and along Ukraine’s borders.

As a reminder, the Russian armed forces have recently been building up troops near the state border of Ukraine in the north, east and south, as well as in the occupied Crimea. In addition, the number of ceasefire violations in eastern Ukraine by the armed formations of the Russian Federation has increased; there are losses among the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In parallel, the Russian Federation is conducting a propaganda campaign to justify possible aggression against Ukraine.

The United States, other Western countries, as well as the EU and NATO, have come out in support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity against the backdrop of Russia's escalation in eastern Ukraine.
