Danilov: Ukraine seeks to settle conflict with Russia through diplomacy
Danilov made a corresponding statement during the meeting with heads of diplomatic missions of EU member states accredited in Ukraine on their initiative, the press service of the NSDC informs.
“The parties discussed the current security situation in the region, in particular, in the context of Russia’s escalating hybrid aggression in the East of Ukraine,” the statement reads.
Danilov emphasized that Ukraine seeks to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine primarily by political and diplomatic means.
“Ukraine currently has no plan to liberate the temporarily occupied territories by military means, our task is to resolve the conflict exclusively by political and diplomatic means. Everything else is purely an information war of the Russian Federation, which they are waging not only on our territory but also all over Europe,” he said.
In this context, according to him, the recently established Center for Countering Disinformation under the NSDC of Ukraine is aimed to combat hostile disinformation and propaganda.
Danilov also informed the ambassadors of the EU member states about the working visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to the frontline positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
“We will not give up our land,” Danilov said stressing that Ukrainian service members on the front lines are ready for any aggravation of the situation, and Ukraine continues to be an “outpost for the whole Europe”.
Danilov thanked the European diplomats for the support provided to Ukraine, emphasizing that “it will be difficult for us to counter the aggressor without the help of our true partners”, but Ukraine is ready to give a decent response to the threats that arise near its border.
As reported, Russia has lately been building up troops near Ukraine's state border in the north, east and south, as well as in the temporarily occupied Crimea. In addition, the number of ceasefire violations committed by the Russian armed formations in eastern Ukraine has increased. Ukrainian troops suffer casualties. At the same time, Russia carries out a propaganda campaign to justify aggression against Ukraine.
