Crimea Platform summit opens new page on road to deoccupation of Crimea - Cavusoglu
He said this at the inaugural summit of the Crimea Platform in Kyiv on Monday, August 23, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"Under the present circumstances, there is no easy solution to this problem. Unfortunately, the international system, including the UN mechanism, is not well designed to resolve it. Still, peaceful resolution through diplomacy is the only way, and this requires effective coordination. And this summit marks an important start to coordinate our efforts to achieve a peaceful and lasting solution. Crimea is Ukraine," Cavusoglu said.
He expressed hope that the Crimea Platform "will serve as an effective forum to show our commitment and solidarity."
Cavusoglu also expressed hope for close cooperation between the Crimea Platform and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
"The Crimea Platform is not only about territory, it's also about people. I know that large Crimean Tatar communities live in your respective countries. Turkey is also home to millions of citizens of Tatar origin," he said.
Cavusoglu also said that Turkey's support for Ukraine's territorial integrity remains strong.
The Crimea Platform summit began in Kyiv on August 23.
