Zelensky to meet with UN, NATO chiefs during U.S. trip - Kuleba

That’s according to Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Ukrinform reports referring to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The president is going to New York with a clear goal: to consolidate even more global support for Ukraine. This concerns the issues of countering Russian aggression, attracting investment to Ukraine, and combating the COVID-19 pandemic,” the minister said.

Kuleba stressed that the UN General Assembly is the most authoritative international platform on which the world's attention is focused. Besides, this is an opportunity to hold at UN Headquarters a number of important bilateral and multilateral meetings.

"The president of Ukraine will meet with the UN secretary general, the NATO secretary general, and the leaders of several important powers, and hold a separate meeting with foreign investors. It will be a very busy visit, where the schedule has been spelled out literally by minutes,” the top diplomat said.

Kuleba stressed that the issue of Crimea will be a cross-cutting theme of the president's participation in the UN General Assembly and negotiations at all levels.

“It's very important. First, we very successfully launched the Crimea Platform. Secondly, Crimea is the No. 1 issue for our state and diplomacy. There will be a difficult conversation with the UN Secretary General on this topic because we want to see greater UN involvement in Crimea,” the chief of diplomacy said.

The minister shared his expectation of a positive outcome for Ukraine following the visit and talks of the leaders.

According to him, "the president will be reaching agreements with his counterparts on specific issues in the areas of security, politics, and economy."

As Ukrinform reported earlier, during his visit for the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Polish President Andrzej Duda will meet with other leaders, including President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
