Kuleba: Ukraine–Turkey partnership is at peak of its development over past 30 years
“The main topic of our talks today is the preparation of the 10th meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council, chaired by presidents Zelensky and Erdoğan. The meeting will take place at the beginning of next year,” Kuleba said at a briefing following the talks with his Turkish counterpart, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Ukraine–Turkey strategic partnership today is at the peak of its development over the past 30 years, the minister stressed.
The security in the Black Sea region was also touched upon.
"We share the view on the need to ensure balance, the balance of security and the balance of interest, in the Black Sea. The Black Sea should not be a space for aggressive action by any country. To achieve this goal, Ukraine and Turkey will work closely together," Kuleba noted.
The foreign ministers also discussed the development of military-technical cooperation, in particular the production of Bayraktar drones in Ukraine.
"Turkey is interested in the capabilities of the Ukrainian Antonov Design Bureau. The efficiency of our aircraft was clearly demonstrated during the recent fires in Turkey. We discussed the issues of energy security, in particular in the context of gas," Kuleba said.
He noted that a record 2 million Ukrainian tourists were expected to visit Turkey by the end of this year.
"Ukraine wants Turkish citizens to visit our country more often, not only Kyiv and Odesa but also Lviv and other cities. We will also work on this," the minister said.
The chief Ukrainian diplomat also pointed out the common conviction to make every effort to sign the free trade agreement as soon as possible. According to him, the parties agreed on concrete steps that would speed up consultations between the ministries of economy of Ukraine and Turkey.
As reported, the 9th meeting of Ukraine–Turkey joint strategic planning group is held in Lviv, in which Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu is taking part at Kuleba’s invitation.
